Presidential Announcement Transcript

Hello, I’m Tom Millican and today I am announcing my candidacy for the Presidency of the United States.

Who am I?  I am a bold American who is sick and tired of watching our government unconstitutionally expand, leadership quality decrease, and spending skyrocket.  It is no surprise that our government has sunk to the lowest approval level in the 231-years. Today, I say it is time for a change – a big change!

The Office of the President of the United States is the most powerful office in the world. The person who sits in that office is responsible for the continuation of this “Great Experiment” called America. Through the leadership of that office, decisions are made that impact the lives of all Americans, as well as people around the globe.

The Executive Branch sets the mood and direction that our great ship of state should tack, whether that tack be into stormy weather or calm.  Today, I will present to you my two tier action plan for the Return of America to Excellence.  The first action tier is designed to enhance the security of America.

Tier One

Through my leadership, my administration will:

·        Effect the complete removal of all illegal aliens from our country,

·        Secure both our southern and northern borders,

·        Secure all of our seaports,

·        Confront, confront and defeat the international terrorist that threaten our very way of life,

·        Implement an alternative fuel and delivery system that will free our nation from the grip of imported oil.  This will enhance security due to the fact that most of the world's oil is located in unfriendly and unstable parts of the world.

As my administration advances with these security measures I’ve outlined, the social, economic and governmental part of my two tier action plan will begin to take shape.

Tier Two

Through my leadership, my administration will:

·        Effect the return of manufacturing jobs to the US creating greater expansion of economic opportunities for all Americans

·        Set into motion the best alternatives for solving the looming Medicare debacle

·        Put an impenetrable pad-lock on all future social security deposits

·        Stop and then reduce the growth of our government bureaucracy

·        And finally, Space, the final frontier; the courage to go where no man has ever gone before, the moon and beyond. Space exploration will reinvigorate our math and science education.

I believe that these are the issues that will begin to push America towards Excellence.  Over the next twelve months, you will be bombarded with solicitations for your vote.  Over the next twelve months, I will be explaining to the voter how I will find a new wind to fill the sails of this great ship called America.  Unfortunately, our government has let our ship lay dead in the water, drifting with the currents of bigger government; indecisiveness, back biting, inaptness and falsehoods.    

 I believe as George Washington did that any one who aspires to be clothed with that important trust, should be willing to submit to the voters not only his views, but his explanation of his views. This I will do.  From now until November, 2008, I will submit myself to you, the voter, over the internet with live streaming audio and video.  You the voter will be able to call or email me questions regarding your concerns.  The schedule of these events will be posted on my election website. www.tommillican.com.  In my opinion the candidate debate format of today is a farce for the voters.  What possible decision can a voter arrive at with such limited exposure of these candidates?  Via the internet in real time you and I will be able to discuss my positions on any and all issues, yours and mine. 

I will not attack or answer any personal attacks by my opponents.  I will only talk about, and explain, how I will put America back on the track to its Return to Excellence. I believe that this great land of ours offers an even greater promise to each of its citizens and that it is the responsibility of its leader to take America up to the next level.  

Our fore fathers, through their sacrifice and shedding of blood, built the foundation that supports our liberty and happiness. In Washington’s Farwell Address, he said, “All obstructions to the execution of the laws, all combinations and associations, under whatever plausible character, with the real design to direct, control, counteract, or awe the regular deliberation and action of the constituted authorities, are destructive of this fundamental principle, and of fatal tendency.  They serve to organize faction, to give it an artificial and extraordinary force; to put, in the place of the delegated will of the nation the will of a party.”  Our first President 231-years ago foretold of the exact thing that is happening right now in our government.

 I am not by my candidacy creating another party.  I am leading an effort to return America to excellence. God, Country and Family are my watchwords.  I believe as our forefathers believed that God has ordained America to its greatness; I urge you to study the lives of our forefathers to fully understand that.  When you travel throughout this vast land of ours you cannot help but be awed and inspired by its beauty and majesty. Sprinkled throughout all of this splendor and majesty from the plains to the mountains, from the seashores to the valleys and from little towns to big cities you will find families – families that have risen many generations that have cultivated a way of life – the American way of life that President Regan referred to as, “a Beacon on the Hill.”

I not only want to protect that “Beacon on the Hill” I want to make that beacon shine even brighter.  This is America and America through its self reliance, innovation and individualism led the world to its current prosperity. Under my leadership I will not allow the dilution of its greatness by trying to be like other nations.   

Through the past 231-years our most valuable asset, our young men and women, have been called upon to serve, and if necessary give their very lives for America.  That act of sacrifice is the very reason that the price to get into this country must remain high.  Because of the blood that was shed for America we owe it to those men and women to remain true to our heritage, “one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all” the way our Creator meant for us to live.

So, who is this Tom Millican?  I am an American who wants to make a change, a big change without the indoctrination of a party line.  I will come to Washington with no baggage other than the ones that will hold my clothes.  I will come to Washington owing only one political favor and that favor belongs to you the American voters. You, the voter, will also be my leverage with Congress.  I will speak softly, but I will be carrying a big stick and that stick is you the American voter.

In closing, I borrow from George Washington again, “Having thus imparted to you my sentiments as they have been awakened by the occasion which brings us together, I shall take my present leave; but not without resorting once more to the benign Parent of the Human Race in humble supplication that, since He has been pleased to favor the American people with opportunities for deliberating in perfect tranquility, and dispositions for deciding with unparalleled unanimity on a form of government for the security of their union and the advancement of their happiness, so His divine blessing may be equally conspicuous in the enlarged views, the temperate consultations, and the wise measures on which the success of this Government must depend.”

There is much we can learn from George Washington as we Return to Excellence.
